Market Overview Panel with Actual Customer Research - Led by MacKay - to Kick Off Heavy Duty Aftermarket Week 2010

Release Date: December 22, 2009

ORLAND PARK, IL – December 18, 2009 – Curious about the current economic tough times being the “best time” for the heavy duty aftermarket? Stu MacKay will address this key question and more during the opening general session of Heavy Duty Aftermarket Week 2010 on Tuesday, Jan. 19.

The annual meeting’s first session is the HD Aftermarket Forum, providing distributors with an informative program delving into the Heavy Duty aftermarket industry’s current state, further exploring where it is headed tomorrow and why the current market may prove to be an opportunity. Long time industry expert and consultant MacKay has contacted 600 fleets and 200 distributors to examine more closely the reasons behind the market share shifts in heavy duty distribution over the past 20 years.

Determining how and why truck fleet management choose their parts and service providers will be the prelude to a lively discussion between MacKay, Terry Dotson, president, CEO of WorldWide Equipment, Inc., a truck dealer, and William (Bill) Ryan, Chairman and CEO of Point Spring & Driveshaft Company, a distributor. Conference attendees will gain first hand insight into both the dealer’s and the distributor’s perspective of the current market and further understand these business philosophies.

HDAW'10 will be held at the Mirage in Las Vegas, Nev., Monday, Jan. 18 through Thursday, Jan. 21, 2010.

Heavy Duty Aftermarket Week is the largest North American gathering of the independent heavy-duty industry. More than 1,400 managers and executives from 17 countries – including distributors, manufacturers, service providers, educators and media – attended the 2009 conference in Orlando.

HDAW is presented by a joint operating committee composed of industry leaders from American Council of Frame and Alignment Specialists (ACOFAS), Commercial Vehicle Solutions Network (CVSN), Heavy Duty America (HDA), Heavy Duty Distribution Association (HDDA), Heavy Duty Manufacturers Association (HDMA), APRA’s Heavy Duty Remanufacturing Group (HDRG), International Truck Parts Association (ITPA), Overseas Automotive Council (OAC), Power Heavy Duty, Service Specialists Association (SSA), Truck Pride, Truck Frame and Axle Repair Association (TARA) and VIPAR Heavy Duty.
