Make Plans to Attend CIIAM ‘07

The Fifth International Congress of the Automotive Industry in Mexico (CIIAM) is slated for Monday, July 9, through Wednesday, July 11, at Centro Banamex, Mexico City, Mexico, just prior to the opening of PAACE Automechanika Mexico.

This year’s theme is “Mexico: The Profitable Advantage for North America.” CIIAM ’07 will begin with a reception and dinner on Monday, July 9, featuring a presentation by a major carmaker.

The program continues on Tuesday and Wednesday, July 10-11, with panel discussions, including:

  • Markets & Scenarios: experts in macroeconomics and the automotive markets will discuss the markets and scenarios and offer analysis of the energy markets’ affect on the auto industry
  • Engineering & Design: representatives from AT Kearney will discuss areas that have potential for becoming profitable opportunities for the auto industry in Mexico
  • Engineering & Design: directors of engineering and design divisions of the major OEMs will discuss the current developments and future innovations that will impact the auto industry in the short-, medium-, and long-run
  • Aftermarket: Aftermarket representatives will discuss the opportunities that arise from the existing technologies that operate in the market, and the changes in the ecological norms
  • Finance – What is Next? This panel will focus on examining the effects that the finances of the OEMs and tier 1 companies will exert on the short-, medium-, and long-run of the auto industry
  • The Economics of Hydrogen: Experts in global warming will discuss the effects of the Global Warming Treaty and the economics of hydrogen in the auto industry
  • Purchasing Directors’ Vision: 2030: These experts will discuss tier 2 and 3 suppliers productive articulation to tier 1s and OEMs, coming customer-supplier relationships, future OEM investments and alternative solutions for steel, foundry or tooling supply in Mexico
  • Value Chain Convergence: This session will present the preliminary findings of an existing collective effort oriented towards improving the competitiveness of the automotive sector and related chains
