MEMA Calls on Parts Suppliers to Speak Out Against Mexico Tariffs

Date: June 3, 2019
MEMA has sent all division members an action alert requesting that motor vehicle suppliers to contact their legislators and oppose the proposed new tariffs on goods from Mexico.

“In 2018, two-way trade with Mexico in auto parts alone totaled $165 billion. A widely applied tariff on all goods from Mexico will no doubt raise the cost of producing motor vehicle parts, putting U.S. jobs and investments at risk,” the alert says. “A new tariff on Mexican goods - in addition to steel and aluminum tariffs, China tariffs, and the threat of auto 232 tariffs - could disrupt our supply chain, disrupt component production, and jeopardize the growth of our industry.”
