MEMA 2021 Executive Briefing: Labor Rights Enforcement in Mexico - Preparing Your Company
Under the U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement, there is an annex between the U.S. and Mexico that established a facility-specific rapid response labor mechanism. The purpose of which to ensure that workers are not denied the right of free association and collective bargaining.*
Last month, two petitions were filed under the rapid response mechanism against facilities in Mexico – an automaker and a parts manufacturer. In the wake of these first test cases, MEMA is convening an executive-level briefing for vehicle parts suppliers. The briefing will cover the current policy landscape, context about the mechanism itself, and provide best practices for company preparedness.
This is a members-only event. Senior-level executives from vehicle suppliers from all divisions (AASA, HDMA, MERA, OESA) with facilities in Mexico are encouraged to attend.
The fee for this briefing is $25. A recording of the briefing and presentation materials will be made available to paid registrants.
* For clarity, the USMCA labor rapid response mechanism is not the same as, nor is it related to, the labor value content provisions of the USMCA Automotive Rules of Origin.
All MEMA Division Supplier Members: $25
