Date: December 1, 2020
This week, the House and Senate are in session. All eyes are on next week’s looming deadline to fund the government beyond December 11. Reports indicate that key House Republicans are opposed to an agreement reached by House and Senate appropriations negotiators as the agreement does not abide by budget caps agreed to in 2019. This leaves open the possibility for another stopgap spending measure to keep the government open into 2021.
In a letter to colleagues last week, Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-Md.) indicated that the House will vote on a funding bill, another coronavirus stimulus bill, and the annual defense bill as soon as they are ready.
