Last week, the federal district court for the Eastern District of Texas issued a preliminary injunction, delaying the implementation of the Department of Labor’s (DOL) Overtime Rule. The rule was set to go into effect on December 1, 2016 and would expand the definition of eligible employees who receive overtime pay, including highly compensated employees. The rule was projected to affect 4.2 million workers. The injunction, while temporary, was applauded by the NAM. MEMA will continue to monitor any new developments.
