Senior Manager, Regulatory Policy
Emily Sobel is senior manager of Regulatory Policy. She works closely with the whole of MEMA to represent the association and communicate with members, media, other associations and more in regulatory positions and comments. Sobel represents MEMA before federal and state regulatory agencies, focusing on specific regulatory issues and policies from the MEMA Government Affairs Committee and other MEMA councils.
Sobel joined MEMA in 2023. Before MEMA, she was a graduate teaching assistant at Cornell University. Prior to her position at Cornell, Sobel interned for several notable organizations including NextGen America, Northwell Health, The Center for Climate Integrity, The Nature Conservancy, and with New York politicians Sen. Charles E. Schumer and Anthony Brindisi.
Sobel earned a master of Public Administration with a concentration in Environmental Policy from the Cornell Jeb E. Brooks School of Public Policy. She is a magna cum laude graduate of Binghamton University with a bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Environmental Studies: Public Policy.
