AASA Know Your Parts® Starting & Charging Campaign e-Learning Tool Upgrades Help Address Misdiagnosed Problems

Date: October 12, 2015

RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C. – The Automotive Aftermarket Suppliers Association (AASA) Know Your Parts® Starting & Charging micro-campaign, launched in March, is already making progress in aiding service professionals in correctly diagnosing repairs – and now the campaign is expanding with additional diagnostic tips.

The Know Your Parts diagnostic eLearning tool at www.KYPgenius.com is the self-directed audio visual step-by-step presentation that makes diagnosing starting and charging issues easy and intuitive. It is now being enhanced with additional battery diagnostic functionality, thanks to battery makers and AASA members East Penn, Exide and Johnson Controls. The eLearning Tool, also is being upgraded based on feedback for AASA supplier members and repair professionals.

The campaign now includes virtually all suppliers in the charging and charging category. Other participating companies are ACDelco, BBB, Bosch, Continental, CARDONE Industries, Dayco, DENSO, Gates, Litens, MPA, Remy and Schaeffler INA.

“The Know Your Parts Starting & Charging campaign has achieved a great deal of success to date,” said Bill Hanvey, AASA senior vice president. “Thousands of technicians have used the eLearning Tool, and the campaign has already delivered over 3.5 million branding impressions to repair professionals.

“The goals of the Starting & Charging micro-campaign and the AASA Know Your Parts campaign are to raise awareness of the benefits of using premium parts and help combat preventable warranty returns,” Hanvey continued. “Most returned parts are not defective and are returned because of misdiagnosis.”

The Starting & Charging campaign, created by MontAd Media, kicked off in March and ran for six months. AutoNet TV built the eLearning Tool in coordination AASA supplier members and MontAd.

A refreshed Starting & Charging campaign will kick off will kick off this month to promote the upgraded tool to the service professional community. It also will be spotlighted at the AASA Know Your Parts exhibit, #34001, during AAPEX, set for Tuesday, Nov. 3 through Thursday, Nov. 5, at the Sands Expo Center, Las Vegas.
