Ahead of the Curve: On Your Behalf by Julie Fream

Date: February 07, 2024
Julie Fream

Dear members,

Welcome, our incredible members, as I share my last column with you. How can it be that I have been working on your behalf for over ten years now?! MEMA OE Suppliers is truly an exceptional organization, and I consider myself fortunate to have been a part of it during these previous years. Thank you to the many members for your ongoing support and encouragement.

Over the years, you may have heard me say, “I want to leave this industry better than I found it.” It was 40 years ago when I started as an engineer – and times have certainly changed. One thing that remains a constant however, is the tremendous capability, knowledge, and resiliency of the people in this industry. I am proud – and humbled – to have had the opportunity to build connections with many of you, while hopefully helping to move your businesses and careers forward.

Together we have weathered some of the most challenging times this industry has ever seen. Who could have predicted the record growth from 2013-2017, followed by the inklings of a seismic technology shift (remember fully autonomous vehicles by 2030!); a labor strike; a pandemic; semiconductor shortages; transportation, material, and labor shortages; and yet another labor strike.

Despite these many challenges and roadblocks, amazing progress continues to be made on the fundamental shift toward more efficient and cleaner propulsion, and software driven vehicles.  I am excited to see what comes next with so many new and innovative developments occurring throughout the supply base!

Thank you to the many individuals who have helped me along the way – I would not be here without having had the opportunity to learn and grow with so many amazing leaders and teammates.

Next, a tremendous thank you to the MEMA OE team!  I appreciate the expertise and passion you bring to work each day.  Your dedication makes MEMA a special place and provides members with exceptional experiences.

And my warmest congratulations to Collin Shaw, an exceptional leader who will move the MEMA OE organization into the future with talent, energy, and enthusiasm.

As I look ahead, I plan to continue to serve on various boards, travel, and perhaps lower my handicap a bit. I’m looking forward to whatever my journey brings next.

I wish each of you a healthy and fulfilling future.  Please connect with me on LinkedIn, and my cell number is not changing should you need to reach me directly.

Thank you for allowing me to be part of this industry’s incredible journey!

Warmly,

Julie Fream
