MEMA Center for Sustainability Advances Industry Progress with Sustainability Council Momentum

Date: March 12, 2025
2025 Sustainability Council Inaugural Meeting

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The MEMA Center for Sustainability made another significant step towards fostering industry collaboration through its Sustainability Council, which launched with its inaugural meeting in February 2025. This meeting brought together both MEMA Original Equipment and Aftermarket Supplier members to engage in sustainability challenges, share best practices and drive industry solutions.

The MEMA Sustainability Council serves as a dedicated forum for vehicle supplier sustainability executives and professionals to network among their peers while driving industry transformation. The kickoff meeting included a presentation by Manufacture 2030 in preparation for their annual survey as well as an introduction to Kellen Mahoney from Suppliers Partnership for the Environment and announcement of their collaboration. It then concluded with our quarterly customer spotlight from Fred Gersdorff, senior manager of socially responsible and sustainable supply chains at GM, who shared insights on their supply chain sustainability expectations.

"This first meeting was an important step in advancing sustainability collaboration among vehicle suppliers," said Bryan Russell, senior director, MEMA Center for Sustainability. "Our members are driving real progress in sustainability, and the MEMA Sustainability Council provides a dedicated space to share insights, address industry concerns and develop solutions together."

The next Sustainability Council meeting will be held on May 6, 2025. MEMA members are encouraged to join the council and continue the conversation on key sustainability initiatives, challenges and strategies shaping the industry.

For more information or to join, visit the Sustainability Council page or contact Bryan Russell, senior director, MEMA Center for Sustainability.
