Suppliers to Discuss IP Protection with Amazon Team at Company’s Seattle Headquarters in June

Date: May 02, 2019

Supplier members of AASA and other MEMA divisions will have the opportunity to tour Amazon and learn more about its IPR protection efforts at the association’s Intellectual Property Council Meeting

RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C. – Supplier members of the Automotive Aftermarket Suppliers Association (AASA) will have the opportunity to hear directly from Amazon’s team about the online retailer’s corporate philosophy and approach to protecting intellectual property rights (IPR) for sellers and brands, and tour the famous Amazon Spheres at its headquarters at the association’s Q3 2019 Intellectual Property Council (IPC) meeting, scheduled for Thursday, June 6, in Seattle, Wash.

The meeting is open to all supplier members of AASA, the light vehicle aftermarket division of the Motor & Equipment Manufacturers Association (MEMA), and MEMA’s other divisions: the Heavy Duty Manufacturers Association (HDMA), MERA – The Sustainable Manufacturing Association and the Original Equipment Suppliers Association (OESA). Registration is $150 per person for members; IPC members may attend at no charge.

The Amazon representatives will discuss the tools available to brand owners who do not sell directly to the company and educate attendees on the procedure for conducting take-downs of reviews of counterfeits tied to legitimate brands. In addition to the IPR discussion and tour, meeting attendees can participate with the Amazon team during the meeting’s Roundtable. These open discussions will include Amazon Web Services-hosted sites; better understanding of “identifiers” and how to trace them back to sellers; plus understanding Amazon country-specific platforms and how they support brand owners’ IP.

Catherine Boland, MEMA vice president of government affairs, will present an update on the latest regulations and legislation at the IPC Q3 2019 meeting. The agenda also will include the “Technology Spotlight” on a leading solution provider of IP protection; the Government Agency Spotlight; and a Council update by Chris Gardner, senior vice president, operations, AASA.

The IPC Q3 2019 Meeting agenda and registration are available here. More information about the IPC is available here or by contacting Chris Gardner. AASA has gathered information about hotel options convenient to the Amazon HQ, available here.
