Third MEMA Policy Breakfast to Focus on NAFTA in Midst of Renegotiation Talks

Date: October 10, 2017

The Motor & Equipment Manufacturers Association (MEMA) will host a policy panel discussion titled “A World Without NAFTA? A Look at the Future Through the Lens of the Automotive Industry” on Thursday, October 12, 2017, on Capitol Hill in Washington, DC. The event is part of MEMA’s new Policy Breakfast Series, which aims to highlight and explain the complexities of critical issues that affect the motor vehicle supplier industry, such as tax reform, trade, workforce development, and intellectual property.

The October 12 Policy Breakfast will take a deep dive into some of the challenges of renegotiating or modernizing the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), including rules of origin, sourcing materials and reshoring jobs, and other aspects of the agreement that pertain specifically to motor vehicle manufacturing. The event will also feature the release of important new data illustrating how a NAFTA withdrawal would impact the automotive industry.

Panelists include:

  • Xavier Mosquet, Senior Partner & Managing Director, The Boston Consulting Group

  • Ian Musselman, Director, Government Affairs, Continental

  • Charles Uthus, Vice President for International Policy, American Automotive Policy Council

  • Moderated by: Ann Wilson, Senior Vice President Government Affairs, MEMA

With this policy event, MEMA, which represents the largest sector of manufacturing jobs in the US, has taken on a leadership role for the industry as legislators and trade experts explore critical trade rule changes.

Registration is by invitation only. MEMA members who wish to attend may find more details here.
