U.S. Consulate General in Shanghai to Host AASA Members for China Market Briefing on Nov. 29

Date: November 22, 2016

SHANGHAI – The U.S. Consulate General will host members of the China Aftermarket Forum (CAF), a peer council of the Automotive Aftermarket Suppliers Association (AASA), for the “China Automotive Market Briefing” on Tuesday, Nov. 29, in Shanghai.

The invitation-only event is focused on U.S. companies operating in the Chinese auto parts market and parts aftermarket. It will provide participants the opportunity to hear from and interact with top experts in a small group format.

Michael Mangelson, intellectual property (IP) rights attaché of U.S. Consulate General in Shanghai, will give a briefing on IP protection in China. He will provide updates on cooperative efforts by the U.S. and Chinese governments to protect IP and how U.S. companies can benefit. Mangelson also will provide key examples and insights based on current cases in the auto parts market.

In addition, auto parts experts will address the current state of the market, future trends and opportunities for U.S. companies in the Chinese market. The briefing will be followed by a networking reception.

The U.S. Consulate General’s Briefing is one of several events being held concurrently with Automechanika Shanghai for CAF members and AASA supplier members participating in the trade show. On Thursday, Dec. 1, AASA will host its annual China Aftermarket Summit with featured speakers John Washbish, president and CEO, Aftermarket Auto Parts Alliance, and Steve Ganster, director, Solidiance. The Q4 2016 CAF meeting on Friday, Dec. 2, will continue discussions initiated by the Summit speakers and review the results of the “Member Trends” survey, AASA’s quarterly survey examining the latest information on Chinese aftermarket supplier sentiments and market trends.
