Senate Continues to Negotiate on Emergency Package

Negotiations continue in the Senate as both parties work to reach a deal to provide relief for businesses, worker, and health care systems. The Senate failed to reach cloture twice on a $2 trillion stimulus package pushed by Senate Republicans. House Democrats have countered with a separate $2.5 trillion proposal.

MEMA has been advocating throughout the debate to ensure that financial assistance and resources will be available for all suppliers.

Last Wednesday, the president signed a second emergency aid bill to combat the coronavirus and its impact on the U.S. economy. President Trump also signed an $8.3 billion bill on March 6 to expand health efforts in wake of the virus.
