ITC Begins Accepting Tariff Petitions in October

Date: October 8, 2019

On Oct. 15, the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) will begin accepting petitions for the 2020 Miscellaneous Tariff Bill (MTB). The process occurs every three years and gives companies the opportunity to temporarily reduce the cost of tariffs when importing their goods to the U.S.

Companies that send petitions to the ITC may be granted tariff-free or reduced tariff costs for their imports for a period of time, so long as the good being imported doesn’t compete with a good made in the U.S. and the tariff revenue lost is less than $500,000 per year.

Petitions can be submitted by going to the MTB Petition System website here.
