In a letter sent May 8 to Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa), Sen. Ron Wyden (D-Ore.), Rep. Richard Neal (D-Mass.), MEMA thanked the lawmakers for working with the Department of the Treasury to get a commitment from the department to affirm applicability of the Employee Retention Tax Credit (ERTC) to health care benefits. MEMA President and CEO Bill Long assured the congressmen that their actions will allow motor vehicle parts suppliers to continue to provide health benefits to workers in these challenging times.
“Your May 4 letter clearly made a difference,” Long stated. “Many of our member companies want to find a way to provide continued health care benefits to furloughed workers and now they can do so.”
