USTR Releases Updated China Report

Date: November 27, 2018

Last week, the United States Trade Representative released a report updating information on its Section 301 investigation of China’s acts, policies and practices related to technology transfer, intellectual property (IP) and innovation.

The original report from March 2018 found that China was doing little to protect IP and innovation, leading to the implementation of tariffs on imports of specific goods from China. This follow up report finds that “China has not fundamentally altered its unfair, unreasonable, and market-distorting practices that were the subject of the March 2018 report on our Section 301 investigation.”
