The House and Senate are both in session this week. The House is expected to consider it’s first minibus appropriations bill, a collection of five appropriations bills covering Defense, Labor-HHS-Education, State and Foreign Operations, Energy and Water, and Legislation Branch Spending. The package increases funding across the board, including for the Department of Energy’s Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy program which includes Vehicle Technologies research and development.
Also this week, Senate Appropriations Committee Chairman Richard Shelby (R-Ala.) is meeting with Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, Treasury Secretary Mnuchin, Acting White House Chief of Staff Mick Mulvaney, and Acting Office of Management and Budget Director Russ Vought to discuss raising statutory budget caps before the FY 2020 appropriations process proceeds.
On Tuesday, the House Energy and Commerce Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee will hold a hearing on the direction of the EPA. Witnesses will include a number of bipartisan former Administrators of the agency.
On Wednesday, the House Transportation and Infrastructure Subcommittee on Highways and Transit will hold a hearing titled “Under Pressure: The State of Trucking in America.”
