This week, Congress returns to Washington. The House is planning work on the annual defense authorization bill and the Senate will resume consideration of nominees.
On Wednesday, the Senate Commerce Committee will hold a business meeting to consider a number of bills, including S. 384, the Composites Standards Act; S. 1427, the Global Leadership in Advanced Manufacturing Act; S. 1601, the Helping Overcome Trauma for Children Alone in the Rear Seat (HOT CARS) Act; and S. 1611, the Developing Innovation and Growing the Internet of Things (DIGIT) Act.
There will be two hearings this week focusing on surface transportation policy. The Senate Environment and Public Works Committee will meet on Wednesday to discuss surface transportation investment and the need for a multi-year reauthorization bill. The House Science, Space and Technology Subcommittee on Research and Technology is holding a hearing Thursday on the need for a national surface transportation research agenda.
